Throughout the workshop, you’ll learn the ins and outs of Inkscape, a free vector-based drawing program, and Ink/Stitch, a powerful extension designed for machine embroidery.

From practicing basic controls and tracing shapes to planning embroidery designs, you’ll gain hands-on experience using embroidery digitized software. Explore factors like color selection, stitching efficiency, and stitch order to create optimal embroidery designs. By the end of the class, you’ll be equipped to unleash your creativity and save your designs for stitching at home. Join us, whether you’re a beginner or have some sewing experience, and master the art of machine embroidery with Inkscape and Ink/Stitch!

NOTE: You must bring your own laptop! This software works with PC, Mac, and Linux.

Prepare your laptop ahead of time:
1. Install Inkscape (https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.2.2/) and verify that it runs!
2. Quit Inkscape
3. Install Ink/Stitch (https://inkstitch.org/docs/install/)
4. Verify that it runs:
a. Open Inkscape again
b. Look in the “Extensions” menu for “Ink/Stitch”
5. Download the provided artwork to your laptop
