Learn to Sew – Machine Sewing for Beginners (Drivers Ed)
December 15 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
$60.00This class is like Drivers Ed for your sewing machine! Would you plan a road trip without knowing how to drive and read a map? Machine sewing is the same thing. You have to know how to use your machine first before making anything!
We will start by going over all the tools that are necessary for successful machine sewing (other than a machine) and some that are just helpful to have. Then we will get you familiarized with the different parts and accessories of your machine and how they work. We will also go over basic care/maintenance of your machine, and get you up-and-running and ready to sew! At the end of the class we will make a simple project using your new skills.
Even if you have sewn in the past and just want to brush up on your skills, this is a great class for you to learn some new things!
After this class, please look into our class – Machine Sewing Techniques – to build on your sewing skills and take your sewing to the next level!
Items needed:
- Sewing Machine that is in working order (because this class is to learn how to use YOUR machine, we will not have machines to borrow)
- Power cord, bobbins and ALL the accessories and attachments that you have for your machine
- Manual for your sewing machine
- YOUR sewing box of tools, like scissors, pins, thread – bring it so we can discuss their uses – and if you have something in your sewing box that you do not know it’s use….BRING IT….we will show you!
- You will be given a handout to make notes on, so you will need something to write with, but you might want a notepad or extra paper
