Learn to Sew – The Boxy Drawstring Bag

$40.00This square bag is inspired by the Japanese Rice Bag, a traditional pouch used to carry rice to temples during religious ceremonies. The finished measurements are approximately 7 ½” x 7 ½” x 7 ½”
Patterns and instructions will be provided with the class.
This is a BEGINNER level sewing class, so do not worry if you are just starting. If you are a seasoned sewist, you’ll have fun learning a few new tricks.
Items needed:
- Sewing Machine that does both a straight stitch. Don’t have a machine? Don’t worry! When signing up for the class, please select “I Need to Borrow a Machine” and we will have one set up for you.
- Walking foot and general purpose foot
- 6x Jelly Roll strips (or cut 42” x 2.5” strips) Two strips are used for drawstrings.
- 6x 5” x 8.5” squares (5 for interior, 1 for exterior bottom)
- 5x cotton batting 8.5” x 8.5” squares
- 4x coordinating fabric rectangles 5” x 3” for drawstring tabs
- Neutral color sewing thread and a favorite color with 2 bobbins filled
- Sewing tools (scissors, clips or pins, stiletto or purple thang, seam ripper)
